Elderly resident is fifth victim of coronavirus in Americana



The patient was a 69-year-old woman who was admitted to the ICU of a private hospital in the city

The City of Americana confirmed on Saturday the fifth death from the new coronavirus (Covid-19) in the city. According to the bulletin of the Epidemiological Surveillance of Americana, this is a 69-year-old woman who lived in the Flor de Liz elderly home.

She was admitted to the ICU of a private hospital in the city since May 14 and died at 2:25 am on Saturday (23). The woman was undergoing cancer treatment and was hypertensive.

The patient’s positive result came out on Monday (18th). On Tuesday, the City of Americana reported that it monitored the nursing home after two positive cases of the new coronavirus (Covid-19) were registered there.

This Saturday, the number of elderly residents of Flor de Liz with a positive diagnosis rose to three. Another resident of the 71-year-old house, who is admitted to a private hospital, tested positive for Covid-19. In addition to her and the 69-year-old woman who died, there is also an 83-year-old woman who tested positive for Covid-19, through a private laboratory PCR exam, done through the family. She was in isolation at home, but needed to be admitted and is now at Hospital Municipal Dr. Waldemar Tebaldi.


The general picture of Covid-19 in Americana is as follows: 81 positive cases, with five deaths, four hospitalized, 11 in isolation at home and 61 cured.

The city has 32 suspected cases awaiting test results, eight of which are hospitalized, 23 of which are in isolation and one which has already been quarantined (14 days).

In addition, Americana now accounts for 455 cases that were considered suspect, but have already been ruled out by the negative test result.
