The President of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, announced
Friday that the country’s schools and universities will once again take classes in
face-to-face on Monday during the month of June.
According to the representative, the educational institutions of the
country will be divided between those who will return to school on June 1, those who
will return on June 15th and those that will return only on June 29th
The criteria for defining which establishments
return on what date will be defined by the Ministry of Education, which will create
a new protocol to impose a minimum distance between the students, and also
between students and teachers, inside the classrooms. Schools and
universities that can adapt more quickly may reopen earlier.
Lacalle Pou also stated that contagion by covid-19
it is also the responsibility of each citizen, and recommended keeping a distance
physics. “We are convinced that the risk is minimal and there must be the will of the
parents to decide whether the children should return or not ”, commented the president,
in an interview with the local press.
